Here is a list of a few things you should look into for maintenance for your home in the summer.
Clean out your Gutters and Downspouts
The gutters are something you should check at the beginning of every season, Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. To learn more about cleaning and maintaining your gutters check out our blog here. You can have Spartan Roofing come out for a free inspection on your gutters anytime of the year. Just contact us here.
Inspect your house exterior
Take a walk around your home and take note of your soffit, fascia, windows, gutters and doors. Make sure that you take notes on where the soffit or fascia is falling down or even rotting.
Check Windows
Clean windows inside and out and replace screens if needed. Check windows for leaks and caulk if needed. This is a great time to walk around and see if any of your windows need to be resealed.
Check your brick tuckpointing
Your brick home needs to be checked at least once a year, but summer time is the best. Make sure all the joints are in tact and that the brick is in good shape. To learn more about tuck pointing, check out this link.

Check your landscaping and beautify your yard.
This is my favorite thing to do. Although, I wait until after Mother’s Day to plant any of my Spring/Summer flowers, I do get a few if just because I cannot wait. After a long winter there is nothing like the grass growing green and watching the whole neighborhood light up with flowers.
Power wash your driveway and sidewalks
This is another one of my favorite things to do in the Spring and Summer. It’s amazing how dirty your sidewalks and driveways can get in just one year. Here is a list of some of the best power washers this year. I myself have an electric Ryobi and love it. It’s not as powerful as some that I have used before but, it works just fine for me and my projects around the home.
Check your air conditioning unit.
You should actually do this in the Spring time. The last thing that you want to do is have the first hot day of the summer and you turn your AC on and it doesn’t work. I can promise you that you are not the only one and that your AC guy might be too busy to get to you as quickly as possible. You should change your filters every 3 months so the best time to do that is at the beginning of each season. Have your AC unit serviced or repaired early in the Spring
Replace Air Filters.
Air filters should be changed every 3 months. You can even do it every 1-2 months if you have someone in your home sensitive to pollen, dust, animal hair or has asthma problems.
